Zoning Review
Miller announced that the planning district staff has placed review of the town’s zoning ordinances asked for by the council on their work calendar and proposed that the project get underway in the fall.
The Mayor also reported that he'd been contacted by the proprietors of The Inn at Little Washington who plan to apply for a special use permit to construct four or five inn-type rooms over their restaurant. Miller guessed that the application for the permit will be formally submitted in time to schedule the public hearing for the council’s August meeting.
Councilman Charlie Jenkins. who oversees operation of the town’s water, reported that he’d recently repaired two leaks in the system. In addition, he noted that he has had to pump from the well only two days, eight hours each time, so far this year.
In other action, the council authorized removal of the fire station signs from the old fire department building, approved the repair of three swings behind the post office and agreed to advertise a bank shares ordinance at the August meeting.
At the request of the Mayor, the council retired into executive session to discuss acquisition of property. .Returning to open meeting about 20 minutes later. Miller announced that no action had been taken.
After first taking a vote to adjourn, the council voted again to recess the monthly meeting.
