Birgitt Thornhill was introduced to the Rappahannock supervisors last week and formally approved by the board as the VP1 extension office’s new home agent for the county. A 1978 graduate of VPI and SU in Blacksburg. Birgitt came to the United States from Germany with her family when she was just six months old. Raised in Isle of Wight County, she met David Thornhill, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thornhill, of Boston, at VPI. The two were married in January and currently reside in Woodville.
As home agent. Birgitt’s job includes working with the extension homemakers’ clubs in Flint Hill. Amissville and Woodville and with 4-H’ers throughout the county. She’s especially interested in expanding the 4-H program here. “1 don't think most of the kids in the county even know 4-H exists," she said.
Stepping into her job the week before the 4-H day camp at Hazel River began and with overnight camp at Powell’s Fort just a few weeks away, she's had barely enough time to find her desk, much less start organizational work. Still, Birgitt sparked youngsters in the livestock club she and her
