At the beginning of the meeting, the board chose officers for the new fiscal year. Beverly Massie was reelected chairman and representative to the Piedmont regional board and Walter Masterson vicechairman and representative to Harrisonburg's instructional television station. Meetings will continue to be held the second Tuesday of every month in the elementary school library, commencing at 7:30 p.m. eastern standard time and 8 p.m. daylight savings time.
After the organizational votes, the board unanimously agreed to retire into executive session with several parents to discuss “business not pertaining to the public."
At the return to open meeting an hour and a half later, Eastham suggested that board sessions be recorded on tape.
“I agree,” Nancy Reeve immediately responded. “Do you think we’ve got a consensus?” With no reply from the other board members, the subject was dropped. ,,
