Wanda Lou Jenkins became the bride of Michael Ray Early in a double ring ceremony Saturday, August 23, 1980, at the Sperryville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Peter Weems officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Jenkins and granddaughter of Mrs. Carrie Jenkins, all of Sperryville.
Mr. Early is the son of John F. Early and Mrs. Frances Robinson, both of Amissville.
Vows were spoken before an altar setting of lighted candlabra and baskets of flowers. A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. Margaret Ann Wayland, organist, and Miss Linda Atkins, soloist.
The bride was escorted by her father. She wore a long gown of white satin organza trimmed with Venetian lace. Her veil fell from a coronet appliqued with Venetian lace and seed pearls. She carried a cascade of red roses, greenery and baby’s breath.
Miss Wendy Jenkins, the bride’s twin sister, was maid of honor. She wore a pale blue lace gown and carried long stemmed blue carnations and baby's breath.
Bridesmaids were Miss Kathy Ann Jenkins, sister of bride. Miss Martha Hottle. both of Sperryville. Miss Beverly Frye of Castleton, the bride’s cousin, and Miss Teresa Robinson of Amissville, sister of the groom. Their gowns of identical style were yellow and pink. They carried bouquets of matching carnations, baby's breath and greenery. Tommy Garrison of Amissville served as best man. Ushers were Jeff Jenkins of Washington. Jerry Lee Jenkins of Sperryville. both cousins of the bride. Gene Reid of Amissville and Tim Brown of Sperryville. Gwen Bright of Sperryville, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a pink gown trimmed with white lace and carried a basket of rose petals. Timothy Alther of Culpeper was ringbearer.
