Last Wednesday, the Culpeper sheriffs department arrested three Boston residents—David Allen Addison, Norman Wayne Addison and Susan Lee Dodson—for arson in connection with a fire that> gutted an unoccupied house. Two of the suspects were incarcerated in the Culpeper County jail at the time of Friday’s fire.
State Police special arson investigator James Jessup declined to say positively that arson was the cause of the fires that destroyed Johnson's barns. He did acknowledge, however, that according to Sperryville volunteer firemen who were first to arrive at the scene, it appeared that the four barns ignited simultaneously.
$1,000 Reward Posted
“We don’t condone this,” stated supervisor chairman E. P. Luke at Monday’s board meeting as he announced that Johnson’s barns had been burned. “We will do everything we can to run down this arsonist," he said, suggesting that the county offer a SI,000 reward for information leading to arrest and conviction. “If we get this reward up high enough, somebody will talk.”'
