“The money will be well spent if we have to pay it,” agreed Clarence Baldwin before the board voted unanimously to offer the $1000 reward. Just offering the reward, he added, may act as a deterrent to further incidents.

Individuals, organizations and businesses in the community have donated an additional $2,300 to the reward fund for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the barn burning. Anyone with information should contact the Rappahannock Sheriff’s Department. Identities of those providing leads will be kept strictly confidential.

Historical

Society Meeting

The Rappahannock Historical Society will meet Friday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m. at the Historical Building in Washington. On the agenda are election of officers and discussion of future plans.

Committees will be formed with the aim of making the Historical Society a moving force in the community.

All current members and anyone interested in joining are urged to attend. Dues are $5 for a couple and $3 for a single membership.
