Master wrote first, checking to see if those strange birds would set for dogs. His friends from out there told him that grouse and prairie chickens went wild in cold weather bu^that as long as it stayed warm, we’d be of some use.”
“So he loaded us into this bouncy little contraption and took off. If the SPCA folks had seen us, they’d have blown the whistle for sure,” Rapp continued, cringing as he recalled the trip to Nebraska in the dog trailer.
“Now, it wasn’t that bad. The Master stopped regularly to let us out for a run.”
“Hah, you can tell it any way you want to but 1 know,” Rapp barked back. "Besides, you were so busy earning doggie points that you jumped right back in after every stop just as soon as he called, acting like you even liked riding in the thing. Admit it—you remember Jack Gynne telling Master that we deserved a meritorious flying award for that trip. Every time the car hit a bump, we went flying. That trailer spent more time in the air than on the road.”
Finished with yelping at his sister, Rapp turned back to his audience. “We were a little worse for wear when we arrived, believe me,” he said.
