MY CHILD LOOKS PIGEON TOED

Some young children walk with their feet crossing towards the inside as they walk There are several causes, but the most common is an actual delay in the growth of the bones of the leg As the lower leg bone (tibia) grows, it also has some twisting motion If this twisting motion is not synchronized well with the lower part of the leg, the toot can turn inwards. Most pediatricians will be correct when they say that it will correct itself However, what usually happens is that the child either has a correction of the twisting motion, or he can have his arch flatten out which makes it appear that his feet are functioning in a straight fashion If the arch flattens, this can lead to problems in the future, for the foot is not functioning correctly The child may later complain that his legs hurt or in later life he will develop corns, callouses, bunions, etc. If you are not sure about your child's feet, have them examined. They are the only pair he will ever have.
