for the election from circuit court judge Shore Robertson, the trustees finally agreed to validate their actions—a year after the illegal appointments were made. Ignoring petitions with over 255 signatures from Wakefielff" District in support of another nominee, the trustees reappointed Eastham. (Coincidently, the controversial representative from Wakefield is the brother of one of the three trustees who made his appointment, a relationship that falls short of conflict of interest under Virginia law.) In addition, the trustees declined to reappoint Eldred, replacing him with J. Newbill Miller, former chairman of the county board of supervisors and current mayor of Washington and member of the Rappahannock planning commission.
