Rappahannock County will receive $6,056 as ts share of Alcoholic Beverage Control profits of $5,622,900 distributed to Virginia’s counties, cities and towns for the first quarter of fiscal year 1980-81.
The total represents twothirds of ABC first quarter profits minus statutory adjustments and a one-third distribution to the Commonwealth's General Fund. Profits come largely from the sale of distilled spirits, cordials and wines at stateoperated ABC stores. Department profits are distributed on a per capita basis at the rate of $1.21 for the current period.
In addition to the amount alloted to the county, the town of Washington will receive $228.
Counties and cities also share on a per capita basis $622,735 generated from the sale of wine. Under the new litter tax which was in effect the last two months of the quarter, 22 percent of the total tax collected from the sale of wine is earmarked for distribution to counties and cities and 66 per cent goes to the State General Fund. The remained is retained by the ABC Department as operating revenue.
Rappahannock County will receive $696 as its first quarter share of litter tax revenue.
