that the sub-committee’s chairman Glenn McGanan proposes to add another sentence to the draft regulations which would permit “any other mechanical system’’ for use in sewage treatment “on land that doesn’t perk.”
After the wording on McClanan’s amendment is worked out, Beard said, the draft of the new regulations will be basically complete and ready for final health department approval before implementation in August, 1981.
In the politicing for next year’s elections that should heat up this year’s Assembly session, Beard sees State Senator Nathan Miller as beating out Guy Farley as the Republican candidate for Lt. Governor. Party loyalty not withstanding, Republican Beard predicted that Marshall Coleman will win the governship over Chuck Robb. Asked if he planned on running again in 1981, Beard replied “as far as I know, l will.”
In the last month. Beard has met with boards of supervisors in Madison, Orange and Culpeper counties to hear the concerns of local government.
