Their passage still faces some difficulty. Paul Raford. VREL President and a cocoordinator of energy planning efforts in Nelson County, acknowledges this and used the 25 percent solar tax credit as an example: "The Department of Taxation still believes the credit will cost the state SIS million in revenues each year, yet experience in virtually every other state with a similar law shows it will cost less than SI million. In fact, the tax credit can generate 3500 jobs and S156 million across the state.”
VREL Board member Charles Oseroff, a Charlottesville resident, agrees that the proposals will help the economy. “In addition these bills can decrease fuel costs substantially for those communities and individuals that take advantage of them.”
