session was the site judged most likely by the state geologist, to produce a good water supply. The terms of the agreement depend on the success of the well. The council had agreed to the purchase of this site, not only because of its favorable geological rating, but because of the five sites listed by the geologist, it provides the easiest hook-up to the existing town lines.

Baumgardner and Mayor Newbill Miller repeated the terms of the agreement for Mrs. Updike and the town council. Baumgardner said that if the well is dug and does not meet the town’s needs for water, it will be capped and the property restored and there will be no purchase. Mrs. Updike had agreed to allow the town sixty days to dig the well and make a final decision. At Miller’s request, she agreed to extend the time thirty days if the well is not completed in time.
