According to the Wakefield District representative, students in public schools spend an average of three hours a night on homework and private school students an average of six hours.
He maintained that private school students, with twice the homework time, are better educated and described the suggested decrease in the number of study halls as "selfdefeating" from an educational standpoint.
Bloomer responded that reducing the number of study halls would not have a drastic effect on the RCHS’s educational program. The amount of homework a student does at home—with or without study hall—depends on the individual student and his or her motivation, he added.
Miller asked which option on curriculum could be adopted with existing space, personnel and funds in the 1981-82 budget.
