Charles K. Estes is the new Piedmont District representative on the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors, replacing E. P. Luke who resigned last month.

In response to a request for nominations from the supervisors who are responsible for filling the vacancy, a handful of Piedmont residents showed up at Monday’s board meeting in support of Estes.

The candidate himself first presented a petition with more than 230 names calling for his appointment.

“1 see a lot of people here from Sperryville. Do they have anything they want to say? I guess the petition says it all.” remarked supervisor H. B. Wood.

A. Y. Stokes, farmer and planning commission member, said Estes will serve both Piedmont District and the county in a very able capacity.
