Two county boys, Jeff Porter and Mike Atkins, played on the Skyline AllStar team that was runner-up in the Lane Babe Ruth League’s 4th annual baseball tournament held last weekend in Charlottesville.
In the First game on Friday, Bennie Eddins, son of Rappahannock’s former ASCS manager Tom Eddins, went the distance for Skyline’s all-stars against a strong Peachtree team, pitching a three hitter, striking out 10 and walking only two to pick up a 7-4 win.
In the second game of the day. Skyline lost 9-5 to the eventual tournament winner, Lane.
Dropped into the losers bracket by the defeat, Skyline came back to beat Orange on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-2. Later that evening at 8:15 p.m.. Skyline took on South Augusta in a hard fought
