School to report the escape to Correctional Camp 26 at Haymarket where the men had been held. At the same time, the high school principal notified the sheriff's department.
State police working with a track dog and helicopter were unable to locate the escapees in the county. The two were recaptured the following day in Leesburg.
Longerbeam, 27, of Sterling, was serving a ten year sentence, five years suspended, for distribution of a controlled drug. Courtney, 32, of Berryville, was serving 90 months on eight charges of breaking and entering and grand larceny.
The grand jury will consider the charges against the two on Monday, July 13.
