"He will make a good representative for Piedmont District. I think he knows all the people in that district as well as the rest of the county,” said Jimmy Swindler. Aline Johnson and Huey Atkins also added their endorsements.
With no further comments from the audience, the board voted unanimous to appoint Estes. He must stand for election in the November general elections. Otherwise, his term expires January, 1982, and whoever is chosen by Piedmont voters in November will fill out the two year balance.
