The Culpeper sheriffs department has its own dispatch equipment, Poling added, but uses the fire department’s radios when its own equipment is out of order. The decision to stop fire and rescue dispatch for Rappahannock was primarily instigated by a single member of Culpeper’s Fire and Rescue Association, according to Poling.
