Helen doesn’t make predictions, even though she is often asked to do so. But using a “book of houses”, she will draw a chart that addresses areas of life experience in a very general way, beginning with babyhood and going through courtship, adult years and old age.
Most of the horoscopes she casts are for friends but occasionally, she has done charts for total strangers, working from an hour and place of birth and nothing more. “I kind of like that. Whether it hits or not is a real test of astrology,” Helen said.
And she’s often hit. A friend once requested her to do a horoscope for a third unidentified party. Some time later, Helen asked for' an address to which she could send the finished chart since she had come to a conclusion on the individual’s profession and didn’t believe anyone fitting that description lived in Rappahannock.
Her friend was amazed when Helen determined—correctly—that the mystery client was an artist, even narrowing it down to the specific art form.
