.This years community Vacation Bible School for the Washington-Flint Hill area promises to be a fun time for people of all ages. There will be classes for adults down to nursery age. Earns Award
Sgt. Thomas S. Wigington, Jr. was recently awarded a U.S. Army commendation metal for meritorious service. He was assigned as Wire Chief for the 24th Transportation Battalion, (Terminal), 7th Transportation Group (Terminal), Fort Eustis, from September - J475 to January 1981.
The commendation award notes that through "diligence and determination, Sgt. Wigington successfully accomplished every assigned task. His unrelenting loyalty, initiative and perserverance brought him wide acclaim and inspired others to strive for maximum achievement.”
The award goes on to say that by “selflessly working long and arduous hours, he contributed significantly to the mission accomplishment of the battalion. His performance of duty reflected distinct credit upon himself and the United States Army”.
Wigington is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wigington of Sperryville and is a 1972 graduate of Rappahannock County High School.
Bridge Party
Mrs. C. E. Johnson, Jr., entertained the Sperryville Bridge Club Friday evening at her home. Guests were Mrs. Brown Miller, Mrs. W. H. Cordle, Mrs. Dale Metzinger, Mrs. Charles H. Estes, Mrs. Mary Quaintance, Mrs. Roy L. Reeve, Mrs. Field Benton and Mrs. R. E. Thompsen. Prize winner were Mrs. Reeve, Mrs. Metzinger and Mrs. Benton.
