Trout Stocking
In March The Virginia Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries will begin preseason trout stocking on March 2. Overall, stocking operations will see more than one million catchable size trout planted in Virginia waters. The 1982 trout season opens at noon on April 3. Except for opening day, trout angling hours are from 5 a.m. until one hour after sunset. The season ends February 15. 1983. Area streams to be stocked in the month preceding season opening include: — Albemarle County—North and South Fork Moorman’s River on March 11 and City Water Works on March 15. — Shenandoah County—Cedar Creek on March 11, Passage Creek on March 22 and Big Stoney Creek on March 25. — Madison County—Hughes River on March 19 and Robinson River on March 22. — Warren County—Gooney Run on March 19. —Greene County—Swift Run and Lynch River on March 23 and South River on March 30.
