The Panthers battled the Generals head to head in the first period which saw the score tied four times before the quarter ended at 18 all.
But Panther shots in the second half rolled off the rim. Both teams flubbed fast breaks as the action grew fast and furious with Rappahannock called for fouls that sent the fans into an uproar.
Up by three at the start of the final quarter, 49-52, the Generals connected from the corners and the top of the key to win by nine, 71-80.
High scorers for Rappahannock were Leake with 20, Fletcher with 16 and Frye with 15.
The Panthers play their final regular season game Friday night at home against the William Monroe Dragons. Then RCHS will travel to Warren County High School for the Skyline District tournament on February 23, 24 and 27.
