Both finished apartments have woodstoves but since December, neither couple has had to rely much on the back-up heating source. Bob Gowell noted that on a recent morning, the temperature inside their apartment was 60 degrees when they arose and by 9:30 had warmed to 70 degrees. The sun was out and so they didn’t light a fire all day.
"It got up to 76 degrees in here. At sunset, 1 started a fire and burned wood for about four hours. That's all! In the meantime, the temperature outside ranged from minus give to a high of 20 degrees."
The three apartments flank 2,400 square feet of common space divided into a large living room complete with fireplace, mini-kitchen and piano, five guest rooms with two connecting baths, and a sauna.
