his meeting with Peter Kramer about the benches which had been taken from the Methodist Church before it became the town hall. Kramer had offered them for the hall. Although the council agreed that they should accept Kramer’s offer, there were still problems to be worked out as to the number which could be used and if there was anv guarantee that the benches would remain in the building.
Miller said that in the meeting Kramer had suggested the possibility of forming a committee of townspeople w ho could direct the renovation of the church so that it could eventually be used, not only for town meetings, but for other groups that needed meeting space. "Of course, we would have to make sure that the groups using the church were compatible with the building’s original use," Miller said. “We don’t want to desecrate a church."
