School Calendar
In order to provide the required number of instructional days, the following revisions were approved in the school calendar: classes will be held on Saturday, February 20; Monday, March 1; Saturday, March 13 and Saturday, March 27.
In addition, school will be in session during four days previously set for Easter Vacation: Monday-Thursday, April 5-8. Good Friday, April 9, and Easter Monday, April 12, will be retained, however, as vacation.
If more days (up to three) are missed, classes will be held on additional Saturdays: April 17, May 1 and May 15. School will be dismissed early on all Saturdays.
To date, school has been cancelled on 12 days. If further cancellations bring the total to more than 15, Estabrook noted, the board can apply to the state board of education to be excused from making up anything over 15 days.
Insurance Coverage
After an investigation that took them to four counties and seven insurance agencies, Eastham and Lane, the board’s special insurance committee, recommened that current policies be maintained—with some adjustments—for one more year.
The superintendent must have cost estimates on insurance coverage by March 16 in order to work the figures into the proposed 1982-83 budget, Eastham noted.
At the same time, before bids are solicited from different agencies, the school board must develop "definite and complete specifications” for each type of risk, including property, general liability and umbrella coverage, he said.
