Mr. Thompson was born March 8,1920, in Rappahannock County, the son of the late Robert and Sarah North Thompson. He was retired from the Swarzenback and Huber Silk Mill. He was a member of the Front Royal Church of the Brethren and of the National Rifle Association.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret V. Thompson; one son, Ernest L. Thompson of Strasburg; four daughters, Hilda Proffitt, Edna Bailey and Mary Clatterbuck, all of Front Royal and Vera Mason of Inwood, W. Va.; seven grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren and one step-grandchild.
Other survivors include five brothers, James Thompson, Francis Thompson, Frank Thompson, Clarence Thompson, all of Front Royal and Bernard Thompson of Richmond and two sisters, Blanche Mills of Baltimore, Md. and Kathleen Simons of Hagerstown, Md.
