Grant funds covered the cost of the tower and telephones which will be used jointly by law enforcement and fire and rescue but the money can’t be used for the sheriffs radio equipment, which will be reserved solely for law enforcement purposes.
The board members also authorized Buntin to place orders by the April 1 deadline for two replacement patrol cars. The automobiles, at approximately $1(5,000 for two, will be paid for out of the 1983-84 budget. “That’s one more cent on the tax rate,” Latham noted.
