Will the $81,500 reportedly included in the state budget for reimbursement on half of the estimated $163,000 for Rappahannock’s jail renovation actually be there when the county asks for the money ?
That’s the question that the supervisors want answered before they go any further with the construction project. Architect Hunter Spencer reported at Monday’s board meeting that the work is ready to go out on bids with drawings approved by the Fauquier building inspector and the Department of Corrections, contingent upon a few minor changes.
But the supervisors agreed to delay placing the advertisement soliciting bids until they receive formal written assurances from the state that reimbursement will be forthcoming.
“We’ve had a lot of information from the newspaper but no word from the Department of Corrections,” said chairman J.R. Latham.
