The open timber race followed. Oliver Brown’s Roman Hunt, Don Yovanovich up, was in command from the start and over all 14 fences, with Paul Cramer’s Cookin ’N Lookin and Donna’s Prima fighting for the second slot. Then coming dowQjhg stretch, Cookin ’N Lookin, ridden by Randy de Witt, surged forward to snatch the lead and win by three lengths over Roman Hunt. Third by ten lengths was Robert Gibbon’s Native Scramble, J. Robinson riding.
