Wagner’s Maxi Max, held off the pace by NSHA leading lady rider, Toinette Jackson, took over, jumping to the front over the last two fences to win. Splashy Lea was second and Too Far Gone was third.
Hurdle Race Split
The Rappahannock Hurdle Race, with 13 entries was split. In the first division, Don Diz, the early leader, fell at the last fence when Double Sparkle and Sheila Jones jumped with him. Double Sparkle, owner “Chick” Owens aboard, was a three-length winner over Larry Levy’s Sheila Jones.
