"We had dances all the time, even in horse and huRK>' days." remembers Mrs. Mary Butts Quaintance. "These were the days of the bin jazz hands. We'd no anywhere to a dance - to Culpe|>er, I.uray. Front Koval.
"We had n°nd hands here too, bin dances, .lack Miller arranged them. 1 re member one - Sonny Poster and the Ked Hot Pep|H*rs. We wore evening dresses to the dances. There were always a whole lot of cha|>erones and if there was ever a sinn that a lady had been drinking ■ they'd usher her riiiht out.
"What they'd do was hire a band to play until two. Then, at two. we'd pass the hat and try to pay them to stay longer. There was many a ninht we’d dance all ninht, as loan as w e could afford it.
“And we didn’t have the same partner to dance w ith all ninht. There was always a stan line, men would cut in. We went with our parents there were all anes there. '
On Hiking...
