Eighth grade rankings were 54th for reading, 66th for math, 55th for language arts, 60th for social studies and science and 58th for educational ability. Scores posted by eleventh graders fell in the 54th percentile for reading and science, 60th percentile for math, 55th percentile for language arts and educational ability and 50th percentile for social studies.

In addition to matching or surpassing national norms, average scores o£ Virginia students in 1982-66 were higher than the previous year’s performances except in the areas'of science and social studies in the eleventh grade.
