The popular Woman’s Club Cookbook, Traditions, on sale for several months locally, makes good reading for those interested in Rappahannock County as well as in cooking.
This very personal and local cookbook describes a year’s worth of Rappahannock living along with the sections on appetizers, soups, salads, meats, seafood, vegetables, breads and desserts. There are sections also on pickles and preserves, and cooking for children.
The section on appetizers spotlights the Rappahannock fall house tour sponsored by the women of Bromfield Parish and includes such local specialties as Achsah’s Cheese Biscuits, submitted by Mrs. Arthur Miller; Aline Johnson’s Spinach Balls and Carolyn Butler’s Stuffed Mushrooms.
