But affected property owners aren’t the only ones concerned. Susan Cameron, who with her husband Bill, brought the original suit against PotEd, said Tuesday, “This effort is something that will affect all of us. We live here in Rappahannock because it’s so beautiful. I hope to die here. They (the utility) are trying to take this away from us, and by winning their appeal, will set a precedent for the whole state.”
On May 10, Circuit Court Judge Shore Robertson granted the Camerons a permanent injunction, directing the utility to restore the Cameron’s property to its pre-existing condition or initiate condemnation proceedings.
With that round won by the Camerons, Potomac Edison has since filed its intention of appealing Robertson’s decision to the state Supreme Court. The company has until August 9 to file its appeal.
