The register is the state’s official list of historic properties worthy of preservation, and includes more than one thousand buildings, structures, sites and districts prominently associated with Virginia history and culture from prehistoric times to the present.
In addition to Sperryville, the register added nineteen landmarks to its register this year: four other historic districts, several institutional buildings and complexes, two early industrial structures, an archaeological site, several downtown commercial buildings, a rare brick barn, and a number of historic houses, representing every major region of Virginia.
