Estabrook said that the search was underway to replace Jerry Lysik, who resigned in early June. He told the board that the procedure for hiring would be to take the best out of the 25 applications received, schedule each one for a half-day tour of the schools and interview with the administrative team in each, an hour with the central office staff, excluding himself, and two hours with him. From this, he said, he would select three finalists to be presented to the board.
Estabrook said that he had devised an unusual application for the prospective assistant superintendents which would include, besides their resumes, writing I samples designed to identify their attitudes towards life and education.
