Arthur
At 8:00 Saturday night and 7:00 Sunday night, RAAC begins its summer film series with Arthur, a high-spirited screwball comedy. Millionaire playboy Arthur, to be sure of his inheritance, is resigned to marrying a dreary deb chosen by his family until a lovable shoplifter steals his heart. His disdainful butler is won over when the couple’s true love triumphs against all odds. With Dudley Moore, John Gielgud and Liza Minelli.
Front Royal Air Show
A second annual airshow will be presented at the Front Royal - Warren County Airport on Sunday, August 7. In case of rain, it will be on August 14. This all-day show will include two NASA performances, an antique aircraft show and a safety seminar. There will be parachute jumpers, a comedy act, gliders and ultra-light demonstrations. Airplane rides, a hot-air balloon and pony cart rides will be offered. Refreshments will be served. Admission is $3.00. The airport is located on Rt. 615, off Rt. 619 south of Front Royal.
Music Festival
On Thursday night, July 28, the Shenandoah Valley music festival will present an evening with the Fairfax symphony orchestra at Orkney Springs. The evening’s program is a sampler of classical favorites which includes works by Faure, Brahms, Strauss, Smetana, and Rimsky-Korsakov.
The concert begins at 8:00 p.m. at Orkney Springs. For information call 459-3396.
Oral History Workshop
An oral history workshop featuring a professor from the University of Virginia will be held at the Gay Street Theatre office of RAAC on July 14 from 6:00 - 9:00. The workshop is part of the Voices of Rappahannock project presently being compiled by RAAC.
