John Thomas Dwyer, 49, of Sperryville died on Saturday, July 2, at Winchester Memorial Hospital.
Son of the late John Thomas and Margaret Harrell Dwyer, he was a native of Rappahannock County. He was a member of Thornton Gap Regular Baptist Church near Sperryville and was a farmer most of his life.
He is survived by two sisters, Mi Grace Gagner of Springfield and Mrs. Anna Young Arlington; two brothers, Charles Dwyer of Woodbridge and James Dwyer of Johnson City, Tenn., and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 5, at 2 p.m. in Washington Masonic Cemetery at Washington, Va. with the Rev. Kirby Shenk officiating.

Mrs. Virginia F. Bentley, of Rappahannock County and Washington, D. C., went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 20, 1983, at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md.
Wife of the late George J. Bentley, she was the mother of Virginia V. Reiser of Hilton Head, S. C., Elizabeth V. Whetzel of Washington and Harold E. Vaden of Silver Spring, Md.
She also leaves a stepson George J. Bentley Jr. of Waterford, seven grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.
Interment was at Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville, Md.
