The News poll showed John Henry Woodward, a current deputy with the Rappahannock sheriff’s department, ahead with 28 percent followed by Orfila with 21 percent, Jenkins with seven percent, Wittl with three percent and 20 percent undecided. According to unofficial returns, the four candidates finished in that order. The lion’s share of the undecideds apparently went for Woodward, upping his percent of the total vote to 40.
The News poll gave Kilpatrick a slight edge over Nelson Lane for StonewallHawthorne’s board seat — 50 percent to 10 percent with 10 percent undecided.
