D. French Slaughter, Jr., incumbent
for the House of Delegate’s seat in the 25th district, held a very wide margin over his opponent for reelection. Slaughter received 835 votes in Rappahannock, to 177 for Maddox.
In the county election, Mrs. Frances Foster had no opposition for the position of treasurer and polled a total of 1,092 votes.
A proposal to raise dog license fees was before Rappahannock supervisors. The schedule would raise fees from $1 to $3 for male dogs and from $3 to $5 for females. The money would go towards making the county “dog fund” a break-even proposition and to pay the dog warden who said he hadn’t received any money since March. The controversial measure was scheduled for a December public hearing.
