Resident engineer Don Askew prepared the audience at Monday’s hearing on the county’s six year secondary road plan for “no” answers to requests for improvements.
“Three or four years ago, Rappahannock County had a half million dollar budget (for secondary road maintenance and construction). Last year, it was $306,000. For the first year of this six year plan, it’s $270,000 and we’re allocated $210,000 for the last year of the plan. . . Even with the recent gas tax increase, the revenue for road improvements is ever decreasing,”
