“They beat us by 20 points in both regular season games,” McLawhorn noted. “Last Tuesday, we stayed right with them in the quarter finals. It was a real team effort. Donna Atkins was our high scorer with 10 and Natalie Butler, Kim Settle and Karen Jordan each had eight apiece.”

The Lady Panthers came up seven short, 40-47. “We even outscored them in the fourth quarter, Basically, we got beat in the second when they scored eight and we only got four,” the coach said.

The Generals were seeded fourth in the tournament after finishing the regular season with an 8-6 record, tied with Clarke and George Mason behind Strasburg, 12-0 in district and 191 overall. “But Stonewall should have been the second place team (in regular season district play),” said McLawhorn. “They let George Mason beat them twice. Of course, that’s just my opinion,” the RCHS coach added.
