Workshop
Parents of children in special education play a unique role in planning for their child’s schooling. Federal and state law and local regulations specify how parents can participate, but the actual process often becomes confusing and difficult to manage for the uninitiated. Parents who wish to be active in planning the education of their child must learn to understand their rights and responsibilities in that process.
A parent support group, People Assisting the Handicapped (PATH), is providing a Parent Educational Advocacy Training Workshop on November 16 & 17 in Culpeper to teach parents their role in this process.
Interested persons should contact Leslie Tharp at 547-2383 or Bruce Hoover at 825-8284 for registration information. The workshop will be held from 6:30 to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, and Thursday, November 17, at the Precious Blood Catholic Church in Culpeper. A $5 per person ($7.50 per couple) fee covers the training manual and refreshments.
