For the first time in a long time, the Last Minute Wood Company will perform at home. In this year's series the dance troupe performed at Glen Echo Park in I).C. in July, in a stream bed at Boyd’s Park in Maryland in mid-summer and more recently at Dance Place, a showcase in D.C. on October 1-2.
On November 12 and l‘> the company will present “Seen Through Moving Water" at the Rappahannock County elementary school. Choreographer Sally Nash says the title of her new piece of “dance/theater" is taken from a poem by Steve Orlen. Nash says she was inspired “to create a piece which explored the many possible uses of my personal movement vocabulary. It is a departure from my usual way of working in that the movement was not drawn from the dancers, nor is there any attempt to tell a story. I think that it is best seen as a tapestry—a dense interweaving of texture, form, shadow, rhythm and feeling.”
