Rappahannock County High
School Christmas concert The Rappahannock County High School band and chorus will present their annual Christmas concert on December 19, at 8:00 p.m. in the RCHS auditorium. A variety of Christmas music will be provided by both groups. A special performance of Handel’s “Hallelujah” chorus will be sung by the choir and the returning alumni.
‘The Killing Fields’ “The Killing Fields” starring Sam Waterston, and Haing S. Ngor will be featured at the Gay Street Theatre on December 14 and 15. A powerful and honest film about the Vietnam era based on an article by New York Times correspondent Sydney Schanberg (Waterston) who was in Phnom Penh when it fell to the Khmer Rouge in 1975. Schanberg’s Cambodian guide and friend, Dith Pran (played by non-actor Ngor, a Cambodian refugee), was unable to get out of the country when Schanberg left. The film chronicles the two men’s lives for the next four and a half years as Pran survives by his wits in the “killing fields,” finally escaping to Thailand. The film is rated R.
Covered dish dinner The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will have their annual Christmas covered dish dinner on Sunday, December 15 at 5 p.m. at the fire hall.
Ruritan club to meet The Amissville Ruritan club will meet on Wednesday, December 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Amissville Baptist Church.
Homemakers Christmas party The Washington Extension Homemakers, (evening club) will have their Christmas party on Tuesday, December 17, at 7 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Margaret Tucker. All members are urged to attend.
