Rappahannock
Recipe Contest
We want our reader* to discover your old (and not so old) original family recipes.
Each week a new category will be announced. Recipes will be judged by the Rappahannock Sews staff on: 1. Obvious taste appeal. 2. Ease of preparation and availability of ingredients. 3. Uniqueness. 4. Clarity.
A short statement may be submitted explaining the origination of the recipe.
Each week a winner will be announced. The winner will receive a five dollar check from the Rappahannock Sews. Second and third prize winners will be so honored in the new spaper.
Recipes must be typed or legibly printed and double-spaced. Ingredients should be listed in their order of use with measurements indicated.
Recipes must reach the offices of the Rappahannock Sew* by 12 noon of the Thursday preceding publication. (In the event of an early publication deadline, the date will be clearly announced in advance).
Any recipe entered may be published by the new spaper. If there is enough interest (we hope there will be!), a cookbook of Rappahannock Recipes may eventually be published. If this occurs all first prize winners will receive a complimentary copy. Coming next week ... “Cookies for Christmas" — watch for it! New categorv: SOUPS FOR WINTER Deadline: THURSDAY.
