Eventually all the crows flew off, with the owl in their midst, the court session over. “They may have been lecturing the owl,” Doris hypothesizes.
There is also a little Catbird the Souders love. They call it Miss Kitty — just as they do all Catbirds. “When I call to her,” Doris confides, “she will talk back and come a little closer. She’s really fun. We love Catbirds.”
Right now the Souders are waiting for the robins to pass through on their annual migration. When they leave, the dogwoods will be stripped of their berries and winter will have arrived.
