In questioning the wisdom of granting a Special Use Permit to Krebser, Martin Partnership to erect a 1,600 square foot office building on the lot where the Medical Clinic is located and Roger Batchelder rents another small building for his real estate office, I have several issues in mind.

1. The new building would increase the use of Gay Street and occasion more traffic. Recognition of this increased use is built into the Town Ordinance, requiring planned parking at the rate of 1 car for each new 100 square feet of building space. The total parking requirements for the planned and existing buildings on the lot, using the Ordinance’s ratio is probably 35 spaces. Can that many spaces be found on the area remaining after a new structure is erected? The Town Council needs to verify that. And if there is not sufficient space, should an objectively arrived at provision in the Town Ordinance for parking be changed to accommodate the wishes
