Seventh District Congressman French Slaughter announced his support today for a new bill in Congress called the “Social Security Trust Fund Protection Act of 1985." This bill, H.R. 3688, arises out of the concern of many Congressmen, including Slaughter, about both the recent loss of interest in the Social Security trust funds and the extraordinary actions taken by the Treasury Department to pay Social Security benefits in October and November of this year.
